Packers Roll Into Dallas Thanks to Big Second Half
PACKERS 38
GIANTS 13
Green Bay WI ~ The Green Bay Packers will advance to play the Dallas Cowboys in the Divisional Round of the NFL Playoffs. The Pack overcame a slow start to beat the fifth-seeded New York Giants.
It was a defensive battle early as the first quarter ended with a score of 3-0 Giants, although they should’ve led by more because Odell Beckham Jr. dropped a pass in the end zone. With 7:29 left in the second quarter the Giants added another Robbie Gould field goal, but the Packers answered with two touchdowns on their last two possessions.
The first drive was right after New York’s second field goal and it ended with a 5-yard Davante Adams touchdown catch from Aaron Rodgers. Rodgers had all day as he ran around for 8 seconds until he finally flung the ball to Adams.
Then on Green Bay’s second possession Aaron Rodgers launched a ball 42-yards in the air to Randall Cobb as time expired to take a 14-6 lead.
The Packers stayed hot in the third quarter. After a Tavarres King touchdown to make the score 14-13, Aaron Rodgers and the Packers took over. Rodgers hit Cobb with two more touchdowns with a Mason Crosby field goal in between. By now the Packers had a commanding 31-13 lead with just under 10 minutes to play. The Packers ended up getting another touchdown late in the game off of an Aaron Ripkowski 1-yard run.
The Pack battled back from the injury of Jordy Nelson who left the game with two broken ribs, due to a dirty hit by Leon Hall.
