Brewers make big move; trade for CF Yelich

Milwaukee, W.I. ~ No more rebuilding stuff for the Milwaukee Brewers, the Brew Crew are here to compete.

The Milwaukee Brewers have made a trade with the Miami Marlins for Christian Yelich. Yelich was traded for 4 Milwaukee prospects including the highly touted out-fielder

As the Brewers officially end their rebuilding process, the Marlins are just starting one down in Miami. This has been the fourth Marlins star that has been traded under new CEO Derek Jeter to take away some of the heavy payroll. Other stars include outfielder’s Giancarlo Stanton, the homerun king of 2017, and Marcell Ozuna, 2017 All-Star. Stolen-Base champ Dee Gordon, a shortstop / second basemen, has also been traded away.

Yelich batted .282 last year, while hitting 18 HR’s and 81 R.B.I’s. However, you can expect his offensive numbers to take a big jump as he hit in the most pitcher friendly ball-park in the MLB.

This could be Milwaukee’s line-up with Yelich

CF Yelich

RF Santana

LF Braun

3B Shaw

1B Thames

SS Arcia

C Pina

2B Sogard / Villar

Every hitter in that line-up can be a threat to the opposing pitchers. And when Ryan Braun needs his off-days, you can throw in Brett Phillips or Keon Broxton

On the other side of the trade, Brinson hit .106 in his 47 at-bats as a member of the Brewers last season, but was still regarded as Milwaukee’s top prospect.

“We are pleased to be able to add a young, talented player like Christian to our organization,” said Milwaukee General Manager David Stearns. “In a relatively brief time, Christian has emerged as one of the most skilled players in the league on both sides of the ball.

Yelich is joining a young Brewers team that is ready to make it to the playoffs for the first time since 2011. He adds talent on both sides of the ball, with his superb defense and a knack for always being on base.

Yelich is in his third year of his contract with the Marlins and will still get payed  $ 44.5 million of his $49.57 million contract with Miami.

But… the Brewers have given up a LOT

First of all, Milwaukee has given up their Number 1 prospect, Lewis Brinson. But that might not be too big of a loss, because Yelich will be the Brewers center-fielder for at least the next five years. The Brewers also have given up OF Monte Harrison, who had a monstrous season in the Minors this year. Isan Diaz, the Brewers’ 2016 Minor League Player of the Year, is also joining the Marlins. Lastly the Brewers give up a pitcher, who could be a reliever in the Majors soon.

Overall, we’ll have to see what this trade brings the Brewers in the future.

ALSO BREAKING : Milwaukee has signed OF Lorenzo Cain from the Kansas City Royals. I will have more on this possibly by tomorrow.
