Kansas romps on Maryland ; advance to Elite Eight

Louisville ~ Perry Ellis and the Kansas Jayhawks were determined to move on in the NCAA Tournament and did so against the Maryland Terrapins.

Perry Ellis scored a  27 points to tie a season high, Wayne Selden Jr. added 19 points, and the Kansas Jayhawks moved on to the Elite Eight for the first time since 2012, when the lost to Kentucky in the Championship Game.

Maryland hung in there with the Jayhawks until mid-way through the second half and when they did everything was rolling for Kansas and they won their 17th straight game.  The Jayhawks seemed to rely on Ellis, but it worked. Perry Ellis made 10 of 17 shots from the field.

Kansas will face the Villanova Wildcats in the South Regional Final in the KFC Yum! Center at 7:50 Saturday night.

Maryland guard Rasheed Sulaimon scored 18 points for the Terrapins who started a back-and-forth game, but finally gave way to the mighty Kansas Jayhawks.

Landen Lucas scored 14 points for Kansas and Frank Mason III added 11 points for the Jayhawks.

Maryland had an early six point lead started by Sulaimon but Kansas rallied back and eventually led the Terps 38-36 at halftime.

Kansas never looked back when they made their first six shots of the second half an d stretched their lead to 9.

      Another close one, but Wisconsin will come away again. Nice if we had a Big Ten Elite Eight…. Wisconsin vs Indiana
