Wisconsin defeats Virginia Tech to move on in tournament

Buffalo N.Y. ~  The Wisconsin Badgers survived and advanced vs Virginia Tech Thursday night in Buffalo, New York. After a week of debate on how the Badgers should’ve been seeded higher, Wisconsin got back to playing basketball and will play Villanova at 1:40 tomorrow.

Bronson Koenig scored 28 points and 8 three-pointers a school tournament record. Fellow senior, Nigel Hayes scored 16 points and went 8 for 9 from the free throw line, while grabbing 10 rebounds. Khalil Iverson added 11 points and seven rebounds. Sophomore Ethan Happ got into foul trouble early and received less minutes than usual. Happ still contributed 10 points an 8 rebounds.

Wisconsin shot 43.3 percent from the field, 41.9 percent from the arc, and 76 percent from the free-throw line. Virginia Tech went 46.9 from the field, 41,2 from the arc, and 81.2 from the free-throwline.

Wisconsin advanced to play Villanova and plays them at 1:40 tomorrow.
