Virginia beats Wisconsin to win Battle 4 Atlantis

The Bahamas ~ After victories over Stanford and Oklahoma, the # 25 Wisconsin Badgers could not get the job done against the #4 Virginia Cavaliers, losing 53-46 in the Battle 4 Atlantis Championship Game.

De’Andre Hunter scored 20 points and grabbed nine rebounds to lead Virginia, who previously beat Middle Tennessee and Dayton.
The Virginia defense was just too much for the young Badgers to handle, as they struggled offensively, only scoring 46 points. Wisconsin had quite the defense too, holding the fourth ranked team in the nation to only 53 points, keeping the game close.

Virginia’s great defense didn’t contain All American Ethan Happ, as he scored 22 points, 15 rebounds, and six assists for the Badgers.

At halftime, the Cavaliers led by fifteen points, 33-18, but Wisconsin battled back, and got the game within five points four different times in the last sixteen minutes.

The aspect of the game that killed the Badgers was  the amount of turnovers they commited. After averaging 7 turnovers a game coming in, the played sloppy, and turned over the ball 13 times.

The young Wisconsin team showed a lot of fight, but weren’t able to close the gap by beating one of the top teams in the country.
