Trout lifts AL in All-Star Game; Wins MVP

If there’s one player that stands out the most and performs the best in the All-Star Game it’s the Los Angeles Angels centerfielder, Mike Trout. Trout won his second All-Star Game MVP in as many years, going 1 for 3 with a walk and he hit a lead-off  homerun to start the game and scored two runs.   Him, and Todd Frazier were the stars of the All-Star Break, both New Jersey natives. Frazier won the Home Run Derby on Monday smacking 39 homers  beating Dodgers centerfielder with 15 long balls in The Final Round.

The score was tied 1-1 until the fifth inning when Prince Fielder, pinch-hitting, hit an R.B.I. single. The next batter, Lorenzo Cain, put one in the gap for  an R.B.I. double and just like that it was 3-1 A.L., on two runs off of dominant Dodgers pitcher Clayton Kershaw.  However,  Pittsburgh Pirates slugger Andrew McCutchen hit a homerun off of Mets young gun Jacob de Grom.  Brewers closer Francisco Rodriguez gave up two runs in the top of the seventh on a Manny Machado R.B.I. double and a Prince Fielder sacrifice fly.  Twins shortstop Brian Dozier hit a solo homer in the eighth for some insurance runs.  Brewers right-fielder Ryan Braun hit a triple to lead off the ninth and scored a run.
