Spartans are 2-2 to kick off the season

The St. Andrew Spartans first four games resulted in two blowout wins and two losses.

To kick off the season the Spartans played the Phoenix Comets, a seventh grade team,led by a kid named Mario. St. Andrew struggled early and it was 10-4 Comets at the end of the first quarter. At the half the Spartans were only trailing by two 12-10. Augustus #25 and L.M #5 scored most of the points in the first half, while Jacob#4 scored a free throw. St. Andrew fought back and took a 24-22 lead before Mario and the Comets battled back to win 28-24.

In the Spartans second game they played the St. Francis Road Runners and destroyed them 40-13. St. A started off the game rolling taking a quick 14-4 lead and the end of the first quarter. Points from Augustus#25,L.M.#5, Jacob#4, and L.H.#43 gave St.Andrew a 24-7 lead at halftime. The mean green Spartans didn’t prevail their lead, but added onto it in the second half, and crushed St. Francis 40-13.

On Tuesday night St. A’s played a doubleheader, first against the Traver Timberwolves. The Spartans didn’t disappoint coming off hot and taking a 14-6 lead at the end of the first quarter. Then the Timberwolves decided to come back tying the game at 16 to end the second half. Coach Foster was angry at St. Andrew’s play in the second quarter only scoring 2 points of a lay up by L.M.#5. With Jacob#4 passing inside to Augustus#25 and the St. Andrew famous Shark defense the Spartans quickly turned the tables and secured a ten point lead in which they didn’t give up. St. Andrew won 39-26.

On their last game, the Spartans lost 40-24 playing the Faith Eagles, eighth graders.
