Offense doesn’t show up; Packers lose 23-0

Green Bay, W.I.~  Only a game out of the NFC Playoffs, the Green Bay Packers very well should have beaten an injury ridden Baltimore Ravens squad Sunday afternoon at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wisconsin. After a few lackluster showings by the Green Bay defense, they played well enough to win, it was the offense that was the problem.

Dom Capers unit sacked Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco three times, forced an interception in the red zone, forced seven punts ( four straight in the second half ), and put up nine tackles for loss. The defense simply just couldn’t keep up when they were constantly on the field, turnover after turnover, punt after punt.

It was the offense that played horrendously Sunday, turning the ball over five times, three interceptions, and two fumbles. Baltimore never seemed to be dominating this game, even though they won 23-0.

Jimmy Smith picks off Brett Hundley in the end-zone Sunday at Lambeau Field.

On the Packers first drive they looked like they came to play. On the first play form scrimmage, QB Brett Hundley found Jordy Nelson for a 17 yard gain. Davante Adams then caught a slightly  under thrown ball over a cornerback to put the Packers at the 33 yard line. However, the progress did not last long at all, as Jimmy Smith left his man and made an amazing interception.

The next Green Bay possession they appeared to be driving when Hundley threw a pass to Eric Weddle for another interception.

The defense was playing great however, and after three turnover, the Pack only were trailing by 6, 6-0. 2016 Pro Bowler Ha Ha Clinton-Dix made up for a dropped INT in the end-zone when he picked off Joe Flacco in the red zone. Clay Matthews and Nick Perry each had a sack in the first half. And after the Ravens scored a touchdown on their first drive of the second half to make it 13-0, the Green Bay defense forced four straight punts.

Brett Hundley kept on looking unsure what do to in the pocket in the second half. He created to many sacks as he would drift 10 yards back and try to run upward once the defense rushed. Hundley was unable to create anyhing with the passing game all day in Green Bay. The only bright spot on the offense was Davante Adams, who put up 126 yards on 8 catches. The offense also turned the ball over on downs three times.

Baltimore sealed the game with a fumble/sack on Brett Hundley and a 4th Quarter interception.
