Delavan City steals 12U Tournament on walk-off stolen base

The Delavan City has won their first Cactus League Championship for as long as anyone can remember.  City has been fairly bad the last five years and totally came out of the blue to have an incredible 16-1 season that ended in star pitcher Seth Sybesma stealing home on a passed ball by a Williams Bay pitcher. With great players such as Seth, Luke Freitag, Ryan Hoey, and Reyes, this team has been unstoppable. meanwhile in the first round the #7 Clinton lost to #8 Sharon and #7 Elkhorn beat #10 North Boone.  In the second round #1 Delavan City beat #8 Sharon, #3 Darien beat #6 Big Foot Nationals and #2 Williams Bay beat #7 Elkhorn. Meanwhile, the first game of the day was the Delavan Township Lakers vs the Big Foot Padres. The Lakers got things going early, scoring 3 runs in the first inning on 4 consecutive basehits by, Payton McCann, Braedon Hembrook, Oliver Hetzel, and Justin Cesarz. The Lakers held the Padres to two runs over three innings and led 7-2 after four innings of play. Township ended up winning 10-4 as Lakers pitcher Connor Gove shut down Big Foot’s mighty bats in the sixth inning. In the third round, #2 Williams Bay beat the third seeded Darien, 8-3 The other game in that round was a tight, up and down game between Delavan and Delavan Township but Delavan took owned the lead and the Lakers lost. City had a four run third, but the Lakers struck back scoring 2 in the fourth. In the fifh inning Township scored two runs on clutch basehits by Payton and Braedon. However in Delavan’s turn in the sixth they scored two and the Lakers lost. The Lakers beat Darien for third place and The City beat Williams Bay in extra innings 5-4 on a walk-off stolen home by Seth.
