Cubs take series but Brewers win on a walk-off
Milwaukee, W.I. ~ Over the weekend the Milwaukee Brewers took on the Chicago Cubs in Milwaukee. The Brewers won he series opener on Friday with an exciting walk-off wild-pitch, but lost to their rivals from Chicago on Saturday and Sunday.
On Friday the Brewers beat the Chicago Cubs 2-1 in two extra innings on a walk-off wild-pitch. Ryan Braun led off the inning with a single then and with one out Jesus Aguilar walked and Jett Bandy was hit by a pitch. Then Cubs reliever missed and the ball got by Wilson Contreras letting Braun come home and score the winning run for the Brewers.
After a second inning homer by Ben Zobrist, Jimmy Nelson and five other Milwaukee relievers held the Cubs scoreless.
On Saturday things looked very good at the beginning for the Brewers as second-baseman Jonathan Villar led off with a home-run in the 1st. Soon after, third-baseman Travis Shaw doubled in first-baseman Eric Thames and the Brewers had a quick 2-0 lead. But then Kris Bryant finally got his first hit of the season and it was a two-run double to tie the game. The Cubs then scored 2 more runs and led 4-2 before Nick Franklin (newly acquired from the Rays) hit a 2 run shot to tie it up. Then Chicago never looked back and won 11-6
In the third and last game of the series the Milwaukee Brewers fell to the Chicago Cubs by a score of 7-4. On Sunday outfielder Kyle Schwarber and utility man Ben Zobrist each hit solo home runs for the Cubs as outfielder Jason Heyward drove in three R.B.I’s. Chicago starter Jake Arrieta pitched great for the Cubs as they cruised 7-4 to win the game and the series at Miller Park in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
