Chiefs pound Texans; force shutout

CHIEFS 30

TEXANS 0

Houston~ The Kansas City Chiefs won their first playoff game in 22 years in a 30-0 rout of the Houston Texans. Given great momentum by the 106-yard opening kick-off return for a touchdown by Knile Davis, the Chiefs defense came out roaring and they just manhandled Brian Hoyer and the Texans.

It just wasn’t pretty for Houston whose quarterback Brian Hoyer was making his first playoff start of his career. Hoyer had the worst day of his life throwing four interceptions and fumbling.  Hoyer was booed all afternoon going 15 for 34.

Chiefs QB Alex Smith passed for 190 yards, a touchdown, and a pick as Kansas City won its 12th straight game. Smith’s main target Jeremy Maclin left in the third quarter with an unspecified ACL injury.
