Brewers eyeing Arrieta
Milwaukee, W.I. ~ The Milwaukee Brewers are heating up and are the front-runner for All-Star pitcher Jake Arrieta. Arrieta is a free agent from the Brewers NL Central rival, the Chicago Cubs.
Coming off a surprising 86 win season in 2017, the Brewers expectations are a lot higher this season, making the expectations for off-season moves higher too. General manager David Stearns made some great trades last off-season, including the Travis Shaw deal, and if the Brewers want to top last season, they will have to add some more talent.
That’s why Milwaukee is going after Jake Arrieta. And conformed by J.P. Morosi, they are the front runner to sign the 2015 Cy Young Award winner. Arrieta had a higher ERA than normal last season, as it was 3.53. But Arrieta proved to be himself again after the All-Star Break and his second-half ERA was 2.28. The Brewers are expecting to pay higher than $ 100 million and they will sign him for up to four years. $100 million is easy for the Brewers because they have the lowest payroll in the MLB.
If the Brewers sign Arrieta, there Opening Day rotation would be :
Jake Arrieta
Chase Anderson
Zach Davies
Brandon Woodruff
Josh Hader / Brent Suter
Jimmy Nelson will return around June, due to an injury that occurred in early September.
As the Brew Crew push for the playoffs, Arrieta, 32, would be extremely helpful, given his postseason experience with the Cubs.

Is it too late for Jake? Has his career peaked already or is there enough left in the tank?
